Editing in HotDog

Editing in HotDog can be a whole lot faster if you use the shortcut keys below.

Triple Click

Highlights an entire line.

Double Click

Highlights a single word.

<CTRL> + Double Click

Highlights an object, such as a tag or a block of text.

Drag Highlighted Text

Moves text to new location.

<CTRL> + Drag Highlighted Text

Copies text to new location.

<CTRL> + ]

If the cursor is at a bracket (,),<,> this key combination will find the ‘opposite’ bracket.

<CTRL> + <SHIFT> + ]

As above, but the contents of the bracket are also highlighted.

<SHIFT> + --> or

<SHIFT> + <--

Highlights a character at a time in the direction of the selected arrow.

<CTRL> + --> or

<CTRL> + <--

Moves the cursor to the next word in the direction of the selected arrow.

<CTRL> + <SHIFT> + --> or

<CTRL> + <SHIFT> + <--

Highlights a word at a time in the direction of the selected arrow.

Jumps an entire object. For example, a block of text.

<SHIFT> + <HOME>

Highlights to the start of the current line of text.

Highlights to the end of the current line of text.

Click in the Gutter Area (left of the Editing Window).

Highlights the selected line of text.

<CTRL> + <SHIFT> + 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0

Sets a bookmark.

<CTRL> + 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0

Returns to set bookmark.

<INSERT>

Toggles betwixt Insert and Overwrite mode. (In Overwrite mode, the existing text is replaced as you type)
